Hon. Abubakar Kabir Abubakar, Member representing Bichi Federal constituency and Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriation, has expressed his deep sadness over the tragic incident. He extended his heartfelt condolences to the families of the athletes and officials, the Kano State Ministry of Youth and Sport Development, and the sports community in Kano State and Nigeria.
The accident has claimed the lives of 22 young athletes and officials from Kano State, who were returning from the National Sports Festival (NSF) held in Abeokuta, Ogun State, whic occurred at Dakatsalle town, leaving the state in mourning.
Hon. Abubakar described the loss as a great blow not only to the families of the deceased and Kano State but also to Nigeria as a whole. He prayed for the Almighty to repose the souls of the athletes and give their families the fortitude to bear the loss.
