The decision to set up the Ad-Hoc Committee was sequel to a Motion of urgent public importance sponsored by Mohammed Abubakar, Member Representing Chanchaga Constituency.

Presenting his motion, Mr Abubakar highlighted the alleged negligence that led to the death of a patient,  the wife of Umar Shehu, while undergoing fibroid surgery due to power outage and faulty generator.
