Dawakin Tofa Stands with Abba Yusuf as Danmaliki Rolls Out ₦80m Ramadan Support.

In a strong demonstration of grassroots alignment with the Kano State Government’s welfare agenda, the Executive Chairman of Dawakin Tofa Local Government, Anas Mukhtar Bello Danmaliki, has disbursed over ₦80 million worth of Ramadan support to residents — fully funded from the local government’s internally generated revenue.
The intervention was specifically designed to complement the food items earlier provided by the Kano State Government, ensuring broader reach and deeper impact across communities in Dawakin Tofa.
Speaking during the distribution exercise, Danmaliki explained that the council deliberately committed its own resources to reinforce the state’s Ramadan relief effort.
“This ₦80 million gesture is our contribution as a local government to support and complement the intervention of the Kano State Government. We funded it entirely from our local government revenue because the welfare of our people must remain paramount,” he stated.
50kg Rice, Spaghetti for Thousands
The distributed items included:
50kg bags of rice
Cartons of spaghetti
Beneficiaries covered key segments of the local government, including:
All Dawakin Tofa Local Government staff
Personnel of the Nigeria Police Force
Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC)
National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA)
Hisbah officials
Village Heads and Ward Heads
Imams across various communities
Widows, elderly citizens, and other vulnerable households
The broad coverage underscored what observers described as a strategic blend of welfare-focused governance and inclusive community outreach.
Boost for Rainy Season Farming
Beyond the Ramadan relief package, Danmaliki also distributed modern, improved seeds to farmers ahead of the rainy farming season, reinforcing food security efforts and positioning the local government for improved agricultural productivity.
He noted that strengthening agriculture remains central to economic stability in Dawakin Tofa, adding that early provision of quality seeds would translate into better harvests and improved livelihoods.
Inspired by Governor Abba Yusuf’s Leadership
Danmaliki credited the success of the intervention to the people-centered leadership of the Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, stating that local governments are encouraged to translate state policies into direct grassroots impact.
“Our actions reflect the compassionate leadership style of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf. Dawakin Tofa stands firmly aligned with his vision of prioritizing the welfare of the people,” the chairman emphasized.
Grassroots Governance in Action
Community leaders and beneficiaries described the ₦80 million locally funded initiative as timely and impactful, particularly during the sacred month of Ramadan.
By complementing the state government’s palliatives with internally generated funds, Dawakin Tofa Local Government has positioned itself as a proactive partner in delivering social support — reinforcing cooperation between state and local authorities while expanding the safety net for its citizens.
