Court Adjourns Malami, Son’s Money Laundering Trial to February 27
The Abuja Division of the Federal High Court on Friday adjourned the alleged money laundering trial of former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, and his son, Abdulaziz Malami, until February 27.
The case, instituted by the State Security Service (SSS), was slated for hearing before Justice Joyce Abdulmalik. However, proceedings did not hold following a public holiday declared by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, ahead of the Abuja Area Council election scheduled for Saturday.
When our correspondent visited Court 6, located on the third floor of the high-rise court complex at about 9:00 a.m., only a few court staff were present. No lawyers or litigants, including the defendants, were seen within the premises.
Sources at the court disclosed that some lawyers and litigants who arrived earlier were asked to leave in compliance with the work-free day directive.
The matter has now been fixed for continuation on February 27.
