Gov Yusuf Sees Signs of Unity in Kano, Vows Peaceful End to Emirate Dispute
Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has expressed optimism that the renewed spirit of unity and collective devotion across the state is already producing positive outcomes, pledging that the lingering emirate dispute will be resolved amicably.
The Governor made the remarks during the second special prayer session and Qur’anic recitation held at the Government House, Kano, where 4,444 reciters gathered to pray for peace, unity and prosperity in the state.
In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, Governor Yusuf said the increasing cooperation among political leaders reflects the impact of sustained prayers and reconciliation efforts.
He cited the attendance of the Deputy President of the Senate, Barau Jibrin, at recent state functions as a clear indication of strengthening harmony within Kano’s political landscape.
The Governor expressed confidence that, following the fervent supplications offered during the session, the Kano Emirate tussle would soon be settled in a manner acceptable to all stakeholders. He assured residents that his administration would pursue dialogue and lawful means to ensure a peaceful and mutually beneficial resolution.
Governor Yusuf further pledged to foster unity among political actors in the state, urging them to shun divisive and confrontational politics in favour of mutual respect and understanding.
Addressing security concerns, he reaffirmed his administration’s determination to eliminate thuggery, noting that many youths involved in such acts are indigenes who should instead channel their energies toward productive ventures that contribute to Kano’s growth.
He also reassured citizens that his government remains focused on delivering people-oriented projects capable of improving living standards across the state.
The Governor commended the thousands of Qur’anic reciters for dedicating their time to pray for Kano’s peace and stability, describing their commitment as a demonstration of collective responsibility toward the state’s future.
In his remarks, Senator Barau Jibrin praised Governor Yusuf’s initiative in organizing the special prayer programme, urging other states in the federation to adopt similar spiritual engagements to promote unity and national cohesion.
Earlier, the Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II, called on residents to remain steadfast in prayers for the continued progress of Kano State and Nigeria as a whole, emphasizing the importance of faith and unity in overcoming challenges.
The event marks the second in a series of special prayer gatherings initiated by the Kano State Government as part of broader efforts to strengthen unity and foster lasting peace in the state.
