Kano Pilgrims Board Pledges Seamless 2026 Hajj, Urges Patience and Compliance
The Director-General of the Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board, Abubakar Ibrahim Matawalle, has reaffirmed the board’s commitment to ensuring a smooth and well-coordinated 2026 Hajj exercise for intending pilgrims from the state.
Speaking at the close of a Hajj orientation programme in Kano, Matawalle expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah for granting the intending pilgrims the opportunity to perform this year’s pilgrimage. He assured them that all registered pilgrims had been successfully captured for visa processing, stressing that no one was left out.
He disclosed that the board has commenced mandatory medical screening for all pilgrims, noting that the health exercise is a critical requirement for entry into the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. According to him, adequate preparations have been put in place to guarantee a hitch-free Hajj.
The Director-General urged the pilgrims to remain patient and prayerful throughout the process, assuring them that the board is working tirelessly to ensure a successful operation. He also appreciated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his prompt intervention following the temporary closure of the Saudi Hajj data-capturing portal, which was later reopened.
Matawalle added that although the current phase of orientation has concluded, further enlightenment programmes will continue after Ramadan, including engagements on selected radio stations to keep pilgrims informed.
In his remarks, Sheikh Tijjani Sani Maihula charged the intending pilgrims to imbibe patience, describing Hajj as an act of worship deeply rooted in endurance and self-discipline. He reminded them that embarking on a spiritual journey outside their homeland requires tolerance, humility and exemplary conduct at all times.
Also speaking, the Director of Enlightenment of the Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alhaji Murtala Lawan Sani, advised intending pilgrims to strictly avoid any actions that contravene the rules guiding Hajj rites or violate the laws and policies of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He emphasized the importance of abiding by laid-down regulations to ensure a peaceful and trouble-free pilgrimage.
The Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board reiterated its resolve to safeguard the welfare of all pilgrims and ensure they perform their religious obligation in safety, dignity and full compliance with international guidelines.
