KNSPHCMB Sanctions Sharada PHC Officer-in-Charge After Supervisory Visit
Board reaffirms zero tolerance for lapses, vows improved primary healthcare delivery across Kano
The Kano State Primary Health Care Management Board (KNSPHCMB) has taken decisive administrative action following a supportive supervision exercise at the Sharada Primary Health Care (PHC) facility, underscoring its commitment to accountability and quality service delivery.
The supervision visit, conducted on Tuesday by Directors and Programme Officers of the Board, formed part of KNSPHCMB’s routine monitoring and oversight activities designed to evaluate service delivery standards, staff performance, and compliance with established primary healthcare guidelines.
Findings from the supervision report prompted the Director-General of KNSPHCMB, Professor Salisu Ahmad Ibrahim, to approve the relief of the Officer-In-Charge of Sharada PHC from the position. The decision, according to the Board, aligns with its core principles of professionalism, responsibility, and continuous improvement in the health sector.
Professor Ibrahim emphasized that supportive supervision is a critical mechanism for strengthening the primary healthcare system in Kano State, noting that corrective measures will be applied whenever lapses are identified.
“Supportive supervision is not punitive by design, but where shortcomings undermine quality, efficiency, or public trust, appropriate administrative action becomes necessary,” he stated.
He further reassured residents that the Board remains resolute in ensuring that all primary healthcare facilities operate strictly within approved guidelines and deliver safe, people-centred health services to communities across the state.
The KNSPHCMB reiterated its commitment to sustaining regular monitoring visits as part of broader reforms aimed at improving healthcare outcomes and restoring public confidence in the primary healthcare system.
