Governor Yusuf Wins African Good Governance Award 2025 in Morocco

Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has been honored with the prestigious African Good Governance Award 2025 in Marrakech, Morocco. This recognition highlights his visionary leadership and commitment to people-centered governance.

The award was presented by President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama,who is  represented by the Ghanaian Minister of Culture and Tourism.

 Governor Yusuf was honored alongside prominent African figures, including Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO), and Rt. Hon. Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga, Deputy Prime Minister of Uganda.

 This award comes just days after Governor Yusuf was named Governor of the Year (Education) by Leadership Newspaper and Governor of the Year (Good Governance) by Vanguard Newspaper in Nigeria.

“This award is not just for me—it is for the people of Kano who entrusted me with leadership. It is a call to do more, to serve better, and to sustain the values of justice, equity, and good governance,” Governor Yusuf said. He dedicated the honor to the people of Kano State, acknowledging their support and collective strides in education, healthcare, youth and women empowerment, infrastructure development, and civil service reform .

Governor Yusuf had previously received the 2025 African Governor of the Year award by the African Leadership Magazine in February 2025, held in Casablanca, Morocco, further solidifying his reputation as a leader committed to good governance.
