Tragedy in Kano: Police Launch Manhunt After Deadly Attack Claims Mother, Six Children
The Kano State Police Command has commenced a full-scale investigation into a deadly attack that occurred at Dorayi Charanchi Quarters, Kano, where a woman and her six children were killed by suspected hoodlums.
According to the police, a distress call was received at about 12:10 p.m. on Friday, January 17, 2025, reporting a violent assault on the residence of Haruna Bashir. The victims were identified as Fatima Abubakar, aged 35, and her six children, who were attacked after unknown assailants forcibly gained entry into the house.
Preliminary reports indicate that the victims sustained fatal injuries after being attacked with dangerous weapons. Upon receiving the alert, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, PhD, swiftly mobilized a tactical police team to the scene, led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, DCP Lawal Isah Mani.
The victims were evacuated from the scene and rushed to the Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital, Kano, where medical personnel confirmed them dead.
In response to the incident, the Commissioner of Police directed the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Criminal Investigation Department (CID), ACP Wada Jarma, to lead a comprehensive investigation aimed at identifying, arresting, and prosecuting those responsible for the attack.
The Kano State Police Command described the incident as tragic and deeply disturbing, assuring the public that no effort would be spared in bringing the perpetrators to justice.
The Command also extended its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, the residents of Dorayi Charanchi Quarters, and the people of Kano State, while urging members of the public to remain calm and continue to cooperate with security agencies by providing useful information that could aid the investigation.
