BREAKING: FG Bans Admission, Transfer of Students into SS3 Nationwide
The Federal Government has announced a nationwide ban on the admission and transfer of students into Senior Secondary School Three (SS3) in both public and private schools, effective from the 2026/2027 academic session.
The directive was contained in an official statement signed by Boriowo Folasade, Director of Press and Public Relations at the Federal Ministry of Education.
According to the ministry, the policy is aimed at curbing examination malpractice and restoring credibility to Nigeria’s education system. It follows growing concerns over widespread irregularities, including the use of so-called “special centres” during external examinations.
The government noted that restricting last-minute admissions and transfers into SS3 would help strengthen academic integrity and ensure proper student assessment before final examinations.
More details are expected as implementation guidelines are released.
