Governor Abba Yusuf Dissolves Kano Consumer Protection Council Board Over Leadership Crisis
Kano — Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has approved the immediate dissolution of the Board of the Kano State Consumer Protection Council (KSCPC) following a prolonged leadership crisis that has rocked the agency.
The dissolution order, contained in a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Umar Faruk Ibrahim, said the decision became necessary after several efforts to resolve internal conflicts within the Council failed to restore peace and administrative harmony.
“Despite numerous interventions aimed at fostering cordial working relationships and ensuring a conducive administrative atmosphere, the leadership crisis persisted, leaving the government with no option but to take decisive action,” the SSG said.
By the directive, the Chairman, Executive Secretary, and all members of the Board, including Ex-Officio members, have been relieved of their appointments with immediate effect.
The SSG further directed all affected officials to hand over the affairs of their respective offices, along with all government properties in their possession, to the most senior officer of the Council not later than the close of official hours on Monday, October 27, 2025.
According to the statement, all handover documents are to be submitted to the Office of the Secretary to the State Government (Research, Evaluation, and Political Affairs Directorate) and the Honourable Commissioner, Ministry of Investment and Commerce.
Governor Yusuf’s decision underscores his administration’s commitment to ensuring accountability, discipline, and effective governance across all public institutions in the state.
The Kano State Consumer Protection Council was established to safeguard consumer rights, ensure the safety and quality of goods and services, and protect the public from unfair trade practices within the state.
