Dawakin Tofa Makes Strong Case for New Federal Constituency
A coalition of distinguished individuals from the Dawakin Tofa community has made a compelling case for the establishment of a new federal constituency, distinct from the current configuration that includes Dawakin Tofa, Tofa, and Rimin Gado. The proposal was formally submitted to the Chairman of the Senate Committee on the 1999 Constitution Review, Senator Barau Jibrin, by the Chairman of the coalition Professor Kabir Bello Dungurawa
During a meeting held on Sunday, Prof. Dungurawa emphasized that the proposed Dawakin Tofa Federal Constituency would facilitate enhanced developmental initiatives specifically tailored to meet the local needs of its residents. He argued that this separation would enable a more profound understanding of the area’s unique challenges and opportunities, allowing for a governance approach that is more responsive and effective in addressing the community’s concerns.
Senator Barau I. Jibrin, the Chairman of the Constitution Review Committee, praised the efforts of the Dawakin Tofa delegation, affirming that the community’s historical, cultural, economic, and social significance warrants its own federal constituency. His support has energized the local advocates and fortified their resolve to pursue this initiative.
