Shettima’s Warm Welcome from Governor Yusuf, but APC Leaders Snub Him

Vice President Kashim Shettima’s visit to Kano State to condole with the family of the late Alhaji Aminu Dantata has taken an interesting turn. Contrary to previous visits where prominent APC leaders like DSP  Barau Jibrin, Member representing Bichi Federal Constituency,  the ministers from Kano  , Kano State APC Chairman Abdullahi Abbas and other APC  Members would be among those to receive him at the airport, this time around, the reception was markedly different.

Shettima received a warm welcome from Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and Kano State Government officials at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport. The Governor even accompanied him to the residence of the late Alhaji Aminu Dantata in Koki area of Kano. Notably, supporters of Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, also known as Kwankwasiyya supporters, were also present to show their solidarity

Interestingly, there was a noticeable absence of APC chieftains and members of the National Assembly from Kano at the event. This development has sparked speculation, with some attributing it to the recent resignation of Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje as the National Chairman of the APC. Daily Gazette News reports that no members of the National Assembly from Kano attended the event, further underscoring the party’s internal divisions.

During his visit, Shettima described the late Alhaji Aminu Dantata’s death as a great national loss, saying, “We have not just lost a leader; we have lost a living bridge that connected us to our past.” He prayed for Almighty Allah to grant the deceased Jannatul Firdaus and comfort the family .

The contrast between this visit and previous ones highlights the complexities of Kano’s political landscape and the challenges facing the APC in the state.
