The National Emergency Management Agency on Tuesday said the explosion that occurred on Monday in Abuja was caused by a suicide bomber.
NEMA stated on its X handle that its team promptly responded to the incident upon receiving the alert.
PUNCH Online had reported that a suspected suicide bomber was killed on Monday in an attempted infiltration into the Mogadishu Cantonment (popularly known as Abacha Barracks) in Abuja, after an Improvised Explosive Device he was carrying detonated.
The police, however, urged residents to remain calm and vigilant, assuring the public that there is no cause for alarm.
NEMA explained that the agency was alerted about the explosion at about 1:47 pm in front of Abacha Barracks along Abuja-Keffi Road, and its team was immediately activated to coordinate the response.
