Kogi Youths Present N100m for Tinubu’s 2027 Nomination as APC Chairman Urges Others to Hold Back
Governor Usman Ododo of Kogi State on Monday led a delegation of young people from the state to present a cheque of N100 million to the All Progressives Congress (APC) to cover nomination fees for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The amount, according to party sources, is intended to pay for both the Nomination and Expression of Interest forms required for participation in the party’s presidential primary.
Receiving the cheque at the party’s national secretariat, the APC National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, confirmed receipt of the funds and disclosed that the Kogi group was the second body to formally indicate interest in purchasing the President’s nomination form.
However, Yilwatda advised other groups or individuals considering similar moves to shelve the plan, suggesting that further payments toward the President’s re-election bid may not be necessary at this stage.
The development signals early political mobilisation within the ruling party as preparations gradually build toward the 2027 electoral cycle. While the APC has yet to officially release its timetable for primaries, support groups across states appear to be positioning themselves ahead of the process.
President Tinubu, who assumed office in May 2023, has not formally declared his intention to seek a second term, though growing endorsements from party stakeholders continue to shape the political landscape within the APC.
