Shetty: APC’s Future Bright Under Yilwatda as Yusuf Formally Received in Kano
A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Maryam Shetty, has expressed optimism about the party’s trajectory under its National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, declaring that the future of the ruling party remains promising with what she described as a new wave of strategic leadership.
Shetty made the remarks on Monday in Kano as she led hundreds of youths to the formal reception of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf into the APC. The colourful event, held at the Sani Abacha Stadium, drew party leaders and supporters from across the state.
The former ministerial nominee under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu arrived at the venue dressed in striking white attire, accompanied by a large contingent of enthusiastic youths — a development observers said underscored her growing political influence within the party structure in Kano and beyond.
Addressing journalists at the stadium, Shetty described Yilwatda as “a generational shift in the APC — one that fuses technocratic competence with strategic political leadership.”
“As a party deeply rooted in progressive values and national development,” she said, “I am confident that Professor Yilwatda’s leadership will ensure renewed unity, strategic direction, and grassroots re-engagement — crucial for consolidating the gains of the Tinubu-led administration.”
She praised the APC chairman’s background as a technocrat and public servant, noting that his experience and long-standing contributions to democratic governance position him to guide the party into what she termed a new era of progress and inclusivity.
According to her, Nigeria’s evolving political landscape requires modern, data-driven leadership anchored on practical governance — qualities she said are reflected in Yilwatda’s approach and action plans. She maintained that his leadership style has injected fresh momentum into the party at a critical stage of its political evolution.
Shetty further observed that as the country gradually approaches another electoral cycle, many within the APC view Yilwatda as a key strategic asset in strengthening internal cohesion and enhancing electoral preparedness. She called on party members nationwide to rally behind ongoing efforts aimed at deepening stability, unity and organisational efficiency within the party.
Throughout the programme, Shetty and her supporters openly demonstrated solidarity with President Tinubu, Governor Yusuf and the APC, interacting with party leaders and exchanging greetings with supporters across the packed stadium.
