Ganduje Foundation Commissions Multi-Million Naira Juma’at Mosque, Islamic Centre in Bachirawa
The Ganduje Foundation has commissioned a multi-million naira Juma’at Mosque and Islamic Centre in Bachirawa, reinforcing its long-standing commitment to religious development, education, and humanitarian service.
The project, which comprises a modern Juma’at mosque and a 16-classroom Islamiyya school, was executed to meet the growing spiritual and educational needs of the densely populated community.
Chairman of the Foundation and former Governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, stated that the decision to construct the mosque and Islamic centre was informed by the high population of the area and the urgent need for a befitting place of worship and structured Islamic learning.
He urged residents to make proper use of the facility, particularly in advancing Islamic education and nurturing sound moral values among the younger generation.
35 Years of Religious and Humanitarian Impact
For over 35 years, the Foundation has focused on the construction of mosques and Islamiyya schools, organising Islamic lectures, supporting the less privileged, and carrying out Da’awah activities, with thousands reportedly embracing Islam within and outside Kano State.
Ganduje disclosed that the Foundation is currently constructing international-standard Juma’at mosques and Islamic centres in Kwara State and the Federal Capital Territory, adding that adequate provisions have been put in place to ensure the continuity of its religious and humanitarian mission.
Royal Endorsement and Call for Unity
In his remarks, the 15th Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero, commended the Foundation for what he described as a landmark community development initiative.
He offered prayers for sustained peace and harmonious coexistence in Kano State and Nigeria, emphasising the importance of unity and mutual respect among citizens.
Named in Honour of Hajiya Asiya Muhammad
The newly commissioned mosque was named after Hajiya Asiya Muhammad, mother of Professor Hafsat Ganduje, in recognition of her legacy. The facility was formally handed over to Sheikh Lawan Shu’aibu, popularly known as Lawan Triumph, for spiritual leadership and administration.
The event was attended by members of the State and National Assembly, including Alhassan Ado Doguwa, Kawu Sumaila, and the Special Adviser on Religious Affairs to the Kano State Governor, who represented the governor at the occasion.
The ceremony featured prayers, goodwill messages, and renewed commitments toward sustaining religious institutions and promoting Islamic education across communities.
