Renewable Energy Drive: Engr. Umar Abdullahi Ganduje Delivers Solar Relief to Dawakin Tofa, Rimin-Gado, and Tofa Communities
320 Constituents Benefit from Home Solar Systems and Solar-Powered Water Pumps Across 38 Wards

The Executive Director (Technical) of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), Engr. Umar Abdullahi Ganduje, has empowered 320 constituents with home solar systems and solar-powered water pumps in a major intervention aimed at improving energy access, water supply, and economic development across communities.
The beneficiaries were carefully selected from the 38 wards that make up Dawakin Tofa, Rimin-Gado, and Tofa Federal Constituency, ensuring equitable distribution of the intervention across the constituency.
The empowerment programme, which is the seventh initiative of its kind by Engr. Umar Abdullahi Ganduje, is part of his continued commitment to supporting grassroots development through sustainable and environmentally friendly solutions.
Speaking during the distribution exercise, Engr. Ganduje emphasized that access to reliable electricity and clean water remains fundamental to community development. He noted that the home solar systems would provide steady power supply for households and small businesses, while the solar-powered water pumps would improve access to potable water and support irrigation activities for farmers.
He urged beneficiaries to make effective use of the items received, particularly in strengthening their small and medium-scale enterprises, stressing that the intervention was designed to improve livelihoods and promote self-reliance among residents.
The event attracted several high-profile dignitaries and party stakeholders from across the constituency. Among them was the Deputy Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly and Member representing Rimin-Gado and Tofa State Constituency, Honourable Muhammad Bello Butu-Butu, alongside the Member representing Dawakin Tofa in the Kano State House of Assembly, Honourable Saleh Ahmed Marke.
Other distinguished personalities present at the empowerment programme included the Kano State APC Women Leader, Hajiya Fatima Dala; the Chairman of Dawakin Tofa Local Government, Honourable Anas Mukhtar Bello Danmaliki; and the representative of the Member representing Dawakin Tofa, Rimin-Gado and Tofa Federal Constituency, Honourable Tijjani Abdulkadir Jobe. Also in attendance were representatives of the Kano State APC Chairman, as well as representatives of Tofa and Rimin-Gado Local Government Chairmen, including APC stakeholders from across the three local government areas.
The Director-General, Media and Publicity to the Kano State Governor, Malam Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, was represented at the event by Alhaji Ibrahim Yaro Dawakin Tofa, the Santurakin Sardaunan Kasar Hausa.
In his remarks, the Chairman of Dawakin Tofa Local Government, Honourable Anas Mukhtar Bello Danmaliki, commended Engr. Ganduje for what he described as a commendable and impactful gesture. He noted that the intervention reflects strong dedication toward improving the welfare of constituents and supporting community development.
Similarly, the representative of the Director-General, Media and Publicity to the Kano State Governor, stated that the empowerment initiative aligns with the broader vision of promoting youth empowerment and economic sustainability within the constituency. He observed that such initiatives would help strengthen local enterprises and reduce unemployment among young people.
Beneficiaries of the programme also expressed profound appreciation for the intervention, describing it as life-changing. One of the beneficiaries, Shamsuddin Sani Salisu, said the solar system would greatly support his small business and reduce his dependence on expensive fuel-powered generators. He described the initiative as a timely intervention that would enhance productivity and improve his family’s living condition.
Another beneficiary, Usman Kabir Ali, noted that the solar-powered water pump would significantly ease the challenges of accessing water for domestic use and farming activities. He said the intervention would help boost agricultural output and improve food security within the community.
Also speaking, Zainab Mansur commended Engr. Ganduje for considering women among the beneficiaries. She stated that access to reliable electricity would enable her to expand her small-scale enterprise and contribute more effectively to her household income.
Similarly, Tasiu Adamu Ibrahim described the empowerment as a major relief to residents, particularly youths striving to establish sustainable businesses. He assured that beneficiaries would utilize the equipment responsibly and ensure proper maintenance to maximize its long-term benefits.
Community leaders and other stakeholders present at the event highlighted that the initiative underscores Engr. Umar Abdullahi Ganduje’s consistent focus on people-oriented programmes and sustainable development. They expressed optimism that the intervention would deliver long-term socio-economic benefits and further strengthen development efforts across Dawakin Tofa, Rimin-Gado, and Tofa Federal Constituency.
The empowerment programme marks another milestone in Engr. Ganduje’s ongoing efforts to promote renewable energy solutions, enhance rural development, and improve the overall quality of life of his constituents.
