Governor Yusuf, Kano Police Commissioner Seek Deeper Security Collaboration
Governor pledges logistics support as both sides move to curb political thuggery and sustain peace in Kano
Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force as part of sustained efforts to consolidate peace and security across the state.
The governor made this known during a courtesy visit to the Kano State Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Bakori, at the command headquarters in Kano. The visit, according to a statement issued on Wednesday by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, was aimed at deepening cooperation and reinforcing mutual understanding between the state government and the police.
Governor Yusuf noted that insecurity was among the major challenges confronting his administration at the time he assumed office, adding that the situation has recorded significant improvement under the leadership of CP Bakori.
He stressed that Kano belongs to all its people, warning that political differences must never be allowed to undermine public safety.
“While political disagreements may exist, security issues must remain non-negotiable. As politicians, we may belong to different platforms, but on matters of security, we must unite under one umbrella for the good of Kano,” the governor said.
Governor Yusuf assured the police command of the state government’s continued moral, institutional, and logistical support, pledging additional assistance to enhance operational effectiveness. He also said the people of Kano are fully aware of, and appreciative of, the sacrifices being made by security personnel to maintain peace.
In his response, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Bakori, described the governor’s visit as a clear demonstration of commitment, goodwill, and support for the police force in the state.
CP Bakori said the sustained encouragement and guidance from the governor since his assumption of office have contributed significantly to the successes recorded by the command, reaffirming the police’s readiness to continue working closely with the state government to ensure lasting peace and security.
During the visit, the Commissioner of Police also paraded three suspects alleged to be involved in the killing of a woman and her children in the Dorayi-Chiranci area of Kano a few days ago, assuring that investigations were ongoing and that justice would be pursued in line with the law.
