BREAKING: Dangote Petroleum Refinery cuts ex-depot petrol price to ₦699 per litre
The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has significantly reduced the ex-depot (gantry) price of premium motor spirit (petrol) from ₦828 to ₦699 per litre, a drop of ₦129 — about a 15.58 % reduction — effective Thursday, December 11, 2025.
refinery sources confirmed the new pricing to marketers, and industry data shows this is the 20th price adjustment announced by the refinery this year.
Industry analysts say the move could put pressure on traditional importers and depot operators, who may struggle to compete with the refinery’s pricing and scale, particularly ahead of the festive travel period.
The price cut aligns with recent statements by Dangote Petroleum Refinery Chairman Aliko Dangote, reaffirming a commitment to keep domestic fuel prices competitive and reasonable despite global market volatility and cross-border smuggling pressures.
Private depots and retail operators have already begun adjusting their own rates slightly in response to the refinery’s new benchmark.
