BREAKING: 25 Schoolgirls Abducted as Bandits Attack Kebbi Secondary School, Kill Vice Principal

A fresh wave of insecurity has struck Kebbi State as armed bandits abducted 25 students of Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga, in Danko district of Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area.

The Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, confirmed the incident in a statement released to journalists in Birnin Kebbi.

According to the police, the attackers—described as a gang of heavily armed bandits—invaded the school in the early hours, firing sporadically as they forced their way onto the premises. Police tactical units stationed in the area immediately engaged the bandits in a fierce gun battle, but the attackers managed to scale the school’s fence and flee with 25 female students.

During the assault, the school’s Vice Principal, Malam Hassan Makuku, was shot and killed. Another staff member, Ali Shehu, sustained injuries to his right hand.

In response to the attack, the Police Command has deployed additional tactical units, supported by military personnel and local vigilante groups, to comb suspected escape routes and surrounding forests in an effort to rescue the abducted schoolgirls and apprehend the perpetrators.

Security operations are ongoing, and authorities have assured the public that every necessary measure is being taken to ensure the safe return of the students.
