This is someone in a leadership position who is on track to become a Permanent Secretary in the civil service. For him to be harassed especially in the presence of someone who has violated the law and on camera—is deeply disappointing”.
Noting that even though the DAGS was not directly under his supervision, he still listened with humility. The girl in question behaved with extreme rudeness and even attempted to insult the Governor after clearly violating state regulations. No one will insult our principal while we fold our arms and let it slide. Even if he chooses to overlook it, we hold our principal in high esteem and will do everything within the confines of the law to protect his integrity.Aliyu said
This is to prevent any misconception that the governor instructed she be summoned and pleaded with.
According to Dr Aliyu “As political appointees, we are expected not only to respect the civil servants we work with but also to protect the integrity of the civil service as a whole. Respect is paramount. Those in positions of authority must understand the damage caused by interfering in matters that may undermine their credibility. Personal relationships should never be used to influence the actions of a serious government.
“His actions are completely inconsistent with the values and governance style of His Excellency, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf. We are not running a lawless government, and at no point has His Excellency authorized anyone to act outside the confines of the law.”
Aliyu highlighted that the current government, under Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, values respect for the law and civil service integrity.
He added that The incident underscores the need for officials to operate within their designated authority. Protecting the integrity of the civil service is crucial for effective governance .
